Cardiff Half Marathon

The last pre race long run and taper

With only a few weeks to go until the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon, you should now be thinking about your last pre race long run and taper. We recently held a training evening at Cardiff Metropolitan University with endurance expert James Thie, where a number of CHM runners were talked through the last few weeks of their training journey.

James talked about the last pre race long run, hydration, nutrition and the all important pre race taper, where you ease down on the training to help freshen up, increase energy levels and avoid injuries before the big day. This period of around 10 days – 2 weeks will help improve your performance on race day. After the talk, runners headed out to Bute Park and Llandaff fields for a training run.
