Cardiff Half Marathon

Run with the elites at the European Running Championships 2025

For runners looking to take on an exciting multi-distance running event abroad, why not try the European Running Championships?

The SuperHalfs series, which the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon is part of, has partnered with the event which is taking place between 12-13 April 2025 in Brussels and Leuven, Belgium – to recommend it to fans of the Series looking for more sports tourism opportunities. The event includes a marathon, half marathon and 10K, so there is a race for everyone.

Similarly to when the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships came to Cardiff in 2016, the 2025 European Running Championships will allow the masses to run alongside the elites as the races will be combined, allowing anyone to partake.

Plus, the top 25 finishers from each country will contribute to the official country rankings.

The course also looks to take in many of the local landmarks with the marathon starting at the Royal Palace in Brussels, taking an undulating route to Leuven.  A 10K city loop is then followed by a heroic finish at the Parkpoort, the same spot as where the Road World Championships finished in 2021.

The half marathon and 10K set off from Leuven and cross the city and wider surroundings.

Sašo Belovski, managing director of SuperHalfs, said: “Don’t miss your chance to be part of history at the European Running Championships 2025. Join elite athletes and fellow runners in Brussels and Leuven on April 12-13, 2025! Whether you’re a marathoner, a half marathon enthusiast, or a 10K addict, there’s a race for you.

“Compete alongside elite athletes, soak up the vibrant atmosphere, and celebrate the spirit of friendship. More than 10,000 runners have signed up already in what will prove to be an unforgettable experience.”
