NSPCC named as Cardiff Half Lead Charity Partner
Run 4 Wales is delighted to announce an exciting new chapter with the UK’s leading children’s charity, the NSPCC.
The NSPCC have been confirmed as Lead Charity Partner to the both the Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon and ABP Newport Wales Marathon in an innovative new partnership with event organisers Run 4 Wales.
Hundreds of runners will have the opportunity to take on two of Wales’ largest mass-participation events in support of the national charity, who are fighting to end child abuse across the country.
More than 30,000 participants will take part across Run 4 Wales’ pair of flagship events, giving runners the perfect platform to promote the invaluable work of the NSPCC.
Head of NSPCC Cymru / Wales, Des Mannion, said: “We are delighted to be working with Run 4 Wales on both of these incredible events. This exciting new partnership will help children and young people across the country as we continue our fight for every childhood.
“The services that will benefit are committed to helping children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, protecting children at risk and finding the best ways of preventing child abuse from happening in the first place.

“2018 will be a year of celebration at Run 4 Wales as we mark the 15th anniversary addition of the Cardiff Half while beginning a new era of distance running in Wales at the ABP Newport Wales Marathon.
“We cannot wait to work closely with the NSPCC and spread the word about their vital work as we aim to deliver a pair of world class running events for Wales next year.”
Run 4 Wales unveiled the new chapter for the organisation on Friday by opening up a giant present at Cardiff Castle, the home of the famous Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon start line.
More than 27,000 participants got involved across a festival weekend of running at last year’s Cardiff Half, raising millions for more than 800 charities. Running enthusiast will now have two opportunities to support the NSPCC, first at the inaugural APB Newport Wales Marathon, where up to 8,000 runners will make history at Wales’ new premier marathon, before the 15th anniversary edition of the Cardiff Half, which is on course to sell-out in record time.
To celebrate the announcement, the NSPCC are offering a limited number of £1 spaces in the Cardiff Half Marathon (for runners pledging to raise £300). When these sell out, the entry fee will increase to £10. Act fast if you want to join Team NSPCC!
