Cardiff Half Marathon

Join the Mighty Race: Recycle and help power Wales to No.1

Our Event Associate Partner, Wales Recycles (WRAP) are on a mission to make Wales no.1 in sustainability and become the word’s top recycling nation.

The countdown to the OYSHO Cardiff Half is on – the crowds, the runners, the energy. And just as every step counts on the course, every item you recycle on race day brings Wales closer to becoming the world’s number one recycling nation.

Wales is already performing brilliantly – ranked second in the world, just behind Austria – but too many recyclables are still slipping through the net. With your help, we can change that.

At Run 4 Wales, we’re committed to making the event as sustainable as possible. That means giving you plenty of chances to recycle right, so together we can help Wales cross the global finish line.

You’ll find recycling bins throughout the Runner’s Village and along the route – so whether you’re a runner grabbing a banana or a spectator enjoying a drink, take a second to think before you throw. Choosing the right bin is a simple habit that makes a mighty difference.

What you can recycle at the OYSHO Cardiff Half:

· Plastic bottles, cans & cartons

· Glass bottles

· Food waste – like banana skins, apple cores and teabags

· Paper & card

When we’re out and about, it’s easy to slip into autopilot – but one wrong item in the wrong bin can spoil a whole batch of recycling. Take a second to choose the right bin – there’s rarely anything that needs to go in the rubbish bin.

One quick check = one mighty win for Wales!

Why it matters – every item counts

Every time you recycle, you’re not just keeping rubbish out of the bin – you’re saving energy and resources and helping push Wales over the finish line to world No.1.

Did you know?

· Recycling metal and glass uses 95% less energy than making it from raw materials – and they can be recycled endlessly.

· Just one recycled can saves enough energy to power a TV for 2 hours and one recycled water bottle can power a TV for 50 minutes!

· Recycling two banana peels creates enough energy to charge a smartphone – so don’t bin them!

Power Wales to No.1

Food waste is one of the biggest opportunities to make a difference. By eating up what you buy – and recycling what can’t be eaten – you’ll help cut waste and create renewable energy to power homes right across Wales.

Why not put your skills to the test? Take the Smart Food Challenge as part of Wales Recycles’ Be Mighty Recycle campaign to discover simple recipes that save time and money – and be in with a chance of winning a delicious Welsh prize.

So whether you’re running, cheering, or refuelling after the race – remember to rescue your recyclables. Together, we can cross the finish line and make Wales the best recycler in the world.

Let’s do this – Bin to Win!
