Cardiff welcomes Danish Athletics Federation to Wales

Organisers of the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon, Run 4 Wales, have this week welcomed their counterparts from the Danish Athletics Federation and the Copenhagen Half Marathon to Wales.

Copenhagen hosted this year’s IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and the baton has now been passed to Cardiff as it prepares to host the Championships for the first time in 2016.

Operations Manager Lene Pedersen and Competition Manager Lars Nissen flew into Cardiff from Denmark on Monday for two days of discussions.

Matt Newman, Welsh Athletics Chief Executive Officer, said: “The visit was the perfect chance for us to learn about everything that is required to host the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

“Copenhagen did a fantastic job in hosting the Championships and we want to ensure we do as well or even better in 2016.”
