The Cardiff University Festival of Running is back!
The countdown is on with only a week to go until the Cardiff University Festival of Running kicks-off a record breaking weekend in the Welsh capital.
If you are one of the 25,000 runners set to take-part in the Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1 October, then why not get your loved ones involved by signing-up for Wales’ biggest Family Fun Run!
Cardiff’s Civic Centre will again host the event on Saturday 30th September as part of the Cardiff University Festival of Running, the Family Fun Run has grown to become the nation’s leading all-family activity.
Perfectly suited to all ages and abilities, the 2.4km route loops twice around Cardiff’s iconic Civic Centre at the heart of the Race Village.
There’s no pressure to record fast times or even run all the way round. Instead, dig out your best fancy dress, drag the rest of your family and friends along and enjoy the experience.
There will be plenty to keep you going all the way round and with a vibrant atmosphere and loads of support from the crowd, you’ll be round the course in no time with a big beaming smile across your face. On completion of the race, each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt and medal.
The entry fee for the event is £9 per person, or £30 for a family of four. Discounted group entries are also available for schools upon request to [email protected]. Online applications close on Thursday 28th September
There’s no minimum age requirements but children under eight must be accompanied by an adult while completing the course.
For smaller children not quite ready for the Family Fun Run there’s the brilliant Toddler Dash.
A 100m ‘sprint’ on a finishing straight outside the front of City Hall, the Toddler Dash was introduced into the race weekend two years ago and was an instant hit with children and parents. It’s back again for 2017 – entry is free with a suggested £2 donation to our Charity Partner Barnardo’s Cymru.
Anyone looking for something a bit more strenuous to warm-up for Sunday’s half marathon can also take part in the Welsh Mile Road Race Championships, with races from under 13 age group right up to Masters age groups. The Championships will also once again include the British Masters Mile Championships, with competitors up to the age of 79 taking part in 2016.
