How can recycling at the Cardiff Half help keep Wales running?
We’re excited to be teaming up with Recycle for Wales and Brecon Carreg once again to bring our ‘Run Refuel Recycle’ campaign to the Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon. Through the campaign, we’re also offering you the opportunity to win a £115 voucher for a pair of running shoes from Specialist Running Shop, Run and Become.
Throughout this week, we’ll be revealing how recycling your empty water bottles and banana peels could power some of the iconic landmarks located along the half marathon route – like how many recycled banana peels are needed to power Cardiff Castle, the Millennium Centre and the Principality Stadium’s floodlights. Recycling really can help keep Wales ‘running’.
Wales recently hit record recycling rate of 60%, and we’re committed to doing our bit to contribute to this fantastic performance. We’ve improved our recycling facilities and have recruited a team of ‘environmental champions’ to help people recycle better at the event. Brecon Carreg have also listened to the feedback of runners and made the water bottles much smaller.
Don’t forget to visit our ‘Run Refuel Recycle’ marquee in the Runners’ Village, where spectators and runners alike will be able to get involved in an array of fun activities – including games, competitions, fancy dress photo shoots, pedal powered smoothie making and craft workshops!
