Cardiff Half Marathon

7,500 Cardiff Half places gone in 24 hours

Almost 7,500 runners raced to secure their place at the 2019 Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon within 24 hours of entries going on sale.

More than 20,000 participants celebrated the 15th anniversary of Wales’ largest mass participation event less than two weeks ago after the race sold-out within six months, but places for next year’s edition look set to fly out in record time.

It took just seven hours for the lucky first 5,000 to take full advantage of an early bird offer to secure their place on the start line on Sunday 6th October, 2019. And the competition will be fierce for runners who want to be part of the action with 30% of starting spaces already filled.

Run 4 Wales Chief Executive Matt Newman said: “The 2018 Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon sold out by April, but next year’s event is already ahead of the curve.

“We’re delighted to have already sold over 7,000 entries in under 24 hours and it just goes to show how much people from across the UK and beyond want to experience Wales’ largest mass-participation event and our fantastic capital city.

“The Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon looks set to sell-out in record time this year so we urge all runners, from those chasing personal bests to the thousands raising vital funds for charity, to waste no time in signing up for what promises to be an unforgettable event.”

Entries will once again be capped at 25,000 to maximise the experience for runners and spectators alike. Early bird spaces have sold out, but general entry spaces can be secured at cardiffhalfmarathon.co.uk/register/. The NSPCC are once again the Lead Charity Partners. Runners can sign up to run for them for just £10, when pledging to raise £300: http://cardiffhalfmarathon.co.uk/running-for-nspcc/.

The flat, fast route, which takes in the capital’s most iconic landmarks with beautiful scenery and historic buildings, is set to remain unchanged for 2019.
