2026 Cardiff Half 100 Club open for entries

Entries into the 2026 Cardiff Half Marathon 100 Club are now open for individuals and community groups to nominate.

The 100 Club is back for 2026 with 100 free spaces available into the sold-out event on Sunday 4 October. These have been donated by the Run 4 Wales Charitable Foundation to enable people to use the event to improve their health and wellbeing.

Entries are open for those who are new to the half marathon distance and people can nominate themselves, someone else or a community group, stating why they want to take part. Anyone who is new to the distance can apply, however they must be at least 17 years of age come race day and the majority of successful applicants will be from the Cardiff postcode.

The Cardiff Half Marathon has become one of the most exciting road races in Europe and is Wales’s largest mass participation and multi-charity fundraising event.

It plays a part in improving the health and wellbeing of the nation and inspires so many people to get involved in running. Completing the iconic road race is on the bucket list of many would-be runners in the UK, but some have to overcome more barriers than others to make it to the start line.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, said: “Run 4 Wales set up the 100 Club to help break down some of the barriers that some people face when it comes to participating in mass-participation events.

“The initiative was set up in 2015 and we’re extremely proud that we’ve been able to continue offering these free spaces into the Cardiff Half for over a decade. Many of those who have taken part in their first running event with us through the 100 Club have reported significant improvements to their confidence and overall wellbeing, with others catching the running bug and continuing with their running journey to take on other challenges and distances.

“We’re very much hoping that the same will be said for this year’s cohort and we’re welcoming applications from anyone who thinks they can benefit from taking part.”

Previous groups that have been part of the Cardiff Half 100 Club have included Slimming World, Oasis, IfYouGoIGo, Mwslima Running Club, Pride Cymru and Play It Again Sport, among others.

Alongside the free event space, membership of the 100 Club will include:

  • A free trial with run coaching app Coopah, which offers instant personalised and adaptable training plans, access to coaches and more.
  • A 100 Club technical t-shirt, to wear on race day and in training.
  • An invite to a training event in July, including a talk with a running expert, an opportunity to ask questions, participate in a guided training run and collect gifts and prizes from event partners.
  • A pre-event reception and VIP experience on race day.
  • Access to a closed digital support group, to engage with others taking part, ask for advice or share progress.

Nominations close on Friday 29 May.
