Run 4 Wales, the events team behind some of Wales’ biggest mass participation events – including the Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon – is looking for an enthusiastic Event Project Manager to join their busy team.  

Excellent time management, organisation, project and planning skills and experience are essential, whilst previous on-site event experience is an advantage.

The Event Project Manager will be an integral part of the event operations team and will lead on two projects on the successful delivery of a range of sporting events throughout the year. Run 4 Wales currently deliver the Cardiff Bay 10km Run, Newport Wales Marathon and 10km, Porthcawl 10km, Barry Island 10km, Dell Technologies Management Challenge and the Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon.  

Alongside the Head of Event Delivery, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of events. This will involve planning, coordinating, delivering and controlling two event projects within Run 4 Wales’ portfolio to ensure consistent delivery of event plan targets, meeting agreed aims and objectives for each event.

This is a challenging and fast paced role which requires commitment, flexibility and quick thinking as delivery is often influenced by external factors.

You will lead on relationship management and work closely with strategic partners and other stakeholders in the public and private sector. You will also liaise closely with the medical team and Safety Officer to ensure a safe environment for participants and spectators.

This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday during regular office hours (09:00-17:00) as well as up to 3 event weekends for which time off in lieu is offered.




  • Develop a good working knowledge of Run4Wales events with the aim of improving the events further within the company’s ethos and ambitions
  • Prepare schedules and detailed logistical plans, contact sheets and travel itineraries for multiple events
  • Manage and monitor a set event budget
  • Assist and support other event managers in their event coordination
  • Maintain and develop spreadsheets, schedules and bookings
  • Liaise with contractors, strategic partners and suppliers on documentation and bookings



  • Experience at managing and delivering other large-scale events and projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; listening, written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • UK driving license and willingness to drive company vehicles
  • Ability to multi-task and work flexibly across different project areas
  • Calm under pressure with an ability to quickly adapt to changing situations
  • Must enjoy and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent IT skills on a range or software. Office, or Adobe Products useful
  • Knowledge or experience of event delivery or project management processes and practices


  • Project management qualifications
  • A good knowledge of site equipment (vehicles, barriers, PPE, safety equipment and tools)
  • Knowledge, experience or qualifications of event health and safety practices
  • An interest in an active lifestyle
  • Welsh speaking
