Cardiff Half Marathon

Options for Entrants with an ‘Individual’ Price Type Space

Individual price types include Early Bird, General, Affiliated, Welsh Athletics, Welsh Distance Double and International Entry.

If you were registered via an Official Charity, Corporate Package, Event Sponsor, SuperHalfs Series Pass, SuperHalfs Charity or for the Festival of Running please go back to the statement and select your entry type to view your options.

If you were registered for both editions of the scheduled 2021 events (March and October) you will have received separate instructions and dedicated options via email.

Every runner with an ‘Individual’ price type space will be able to use it in the rescheduled event on Sunday 3 October 2021 or decide between a number of additional options, which are detailed below.

The deadline for processing some of these options is Friday 27 November 2020, so please choose your preference as soon as possible.

1) A free transfer to the re-scheduled event on 3 October 2021

Your entry has been transferred automatically so you do not need to re-register. We will keep you updated with details on the re-scheduled event as it draws closer.

2) A deferral to the next edition of the event in 2022

If you would rather not attend the rescheduled event in 2021, you may defer your space to the 2022 edition of the race for free. Your 2022 entry will be guaranteed, even if the entry price increases. The event will take place on Sunday 2 October 2022.

If you would like to take up this option, you must follow the instructions below to complete your deferral by Friday 27 November 2020:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon; (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘2022 Cardiff Half Marathon’.
  • Select ‘March 2021 Deferral Entry’ and insert the password ‘DEFER’ then complete the registration form. You will not have to pay anything at the checkout.

Please note: the 2022 deferral option is not available to you if you purchased your entry via an official charity as your space has a personal fundraising pledge attached to the postponed edition of the event which will take place in October 2021.

3) A credit note voucher, redeemable against any future Run 4 Wales event purchase

If you would not like to attend the rescheduled event, you can claim the amount you paid for your entry as a digital voucher, redeemable against any future Run 4 Wales event purchase.

If the event you register for in future costs less than your Cardiff Half entry, you will retain the additional un-used value for another future purchase on your voucher.

If you would like to take up this option, you must follow the instructions below to request a credit note voucher by Friday 27 November 2020. There is no time limit on using the voucher:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon; (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘R4W Credit Note Voucher’.
  • Select the entry type you were registered for (i.e Early Bird Entry, General Entry, Affiliated Entry, Welsh Athletics Entry, International Entry, Welsh Distance Double Pass’) then complete the registration form. You will not have to pay anything at the checkout if you have selected the correct entry type.
  • Your credit note request will be processed by 23 December 2020 at the latest (ahead of our 2021 events going on sale). You will receive an e-mail once it has been, with instructions on how to use it.

Please note: the Credit Note option is not available to you if you purchased your entry via an official charity as the value of that space belongs to the charity – who will have offered it to you at a discounted rate.

4) The opportunity to transfer your space to another runner and receive your entry fee back

If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date you may wish to transfer your space to another runner. We will waive the usual £5.80 transfer fee and you will have until August 2021 to make the transfer.

Please note that for insurance and medical reasons, all transfers must be conducted through the official transfer service – which is set up to ensure you do not need to share personal or payment information – just a transfer link.

The runner taking up your space will pay for an entry, and when the transaction is complete the cost of your entry will be returned to your payment card.

Our website provides instructions on conducting the transfer and finding someone to take your space via our official Facebook event.

5) The opportunity to participate virtually instead

If you would rather not attend the rescheduled event on Sunday 3 October, you can opt to run virtually anytime during the month of October 2021.

If runners can provide evidence of covering the race distance (using an app like Strava, a GPS tracker or a picture of gym equipment) we will send them a finishers medal and t-shirt in the post. We will cover the postage costs. Medals and t-shirts will be 2021 branded and use the same design as those distributed at the physical race).

Please note, if you take up this option your entry in the rescheduled event on Sunday 3 October 2021 will be cancelled and this cannot be undone.

Completing the race virtually will NOT count towards completing the SuperHalfs series of races in Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia.

If you would like to take up this option, you will need to transfer into the virtual race using the MyEvents portal by Friday 27 November 2020:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon’ (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘2021 Virtual Cardiff Half Marathon’.
  • Complete the registration form. You will not have to pay anything at the checkout.

6) Donate your entry to the R4W Charitable Foundation

The R4W Charitable Foundation (registered charity number 1160212) awards funding to grassroots sport and other community projects (such as the Welsh Schools Athletic Association, parkrun and the Run Wales social running programme).

Since 2012, it has awarded over £500,000 to projects in Wales. The foundation is usually funded by the surpluses generated by Run 4 Wales events, which cannot go ahead in 2020 because of COVID-19, so your support will help at a crucial time.

If you cannot attend the new date and would like to donate your entry, please follow the instructions below. Your entry in the rescheduled event will be cancelled, and you will not be able to un-do this. We thank you for your support, it is really appreciated:

  • Login to the MyEvents portal using the email address and password you used when signing up.
  • Select ‘2021 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon; (if it does not appear – select ‘claim registration’ and enter the registration ID from your confirmation email).
  • Select the ‘Change Event’ button and then ‘R4W Charitable Foundation Donation’.
  • Select the entry type you were registered for (i.e Early Bird Entry, General Entry, Affiliated Entry, Welsh Athletics Entry, International Entry, Welsh Distance Double Pass’) then complete the registration form to process the donation.
