The Cardiff Half Marathon takes place by Cardiff Castle

Awgrymiadau ar gyfer codi arian

Where to start

  • Set yourself a realistic fundraising target
  • Think about who you can ask to sponsor you - family, friends, colleagues and community members
  • Why not find out if your employer has a matched giving scheme and will match all or part of what you raise?

Set up an online sponsorship page

  • Set up your page today! If you’re running for Barnardo’s we have all new online fundraising pages dedicated to the Lloyds TSB Cardiff Half Marathon. If you’re running for another charity ask them where to set up your page
  • It’s the quickest and easiest way to advertise your event and collect donations
  • It allows you to contact all your donors at once, shows them the details of your run and enables them to sponsor you securely
  • It also means that you don’t have to handle the money yourself - it goes directly to your chosen charity
  • Remember to email links to everyone you know and add it to your email signature!

Keep it legal!

  • Collecting in any public place or going door to door is illegal without a licence

Publicise it!

  • Be short, compelling and to the point, tell people how they can help and where their money will go
  • Why not advertise your sponsored run on a social networking site like Facebook?

Collecting donations

  • If you use paper sponsorship forms, it’s much easier if you ask your sponsors to pay upfront
  • Start your sponsorship forms with your highest donations – those sponsoring you later on may look at the form for a guide of how much to give you
  • Remember to ask all UK taxpayers to ‘Gift Aid’ their donations - this means your chosen charity can claim back the tax on these donations, at no extra cost to the donor!

Remember to contact your chosen charity directly for fundraising advice and details of how to pay in the money you raise.
