The 2017 Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon is now just 12 weeks away on Sunday 1st October so now is the ideal time to lace up your trainers and take to the streets to start your training!
We’ve put together official 12 week training programmes, perfect for those who’ve dreamt of running Wales’ biggest road race but not known where to start or seasoned runners looking to knock minutes off their personal best and made them available free of charge to mark the official countdown to race day.
Whether you are new to jogging, returning after a break or a regular runner, we’ve got a free training plan suitable for you! The beginner, intermediate and advanced plans have been put together in conjunction with Run Wales, the Welsh Athletics social running programme.
These are the same plans that 100 new runners, part of ‘Alfie’s Army’ will be using as they prepare for the race as part of a new series of the BBC Wales television series with Gareth Thomas.
Nutrition advice is also available from Event Associate High 5 Sports Nutrition.
The training plans and guides can be found here.
Entries for the 2017 event have been selling at record speed, and with over 75% of spaces in the race now taken, runners are being urged to sign up now to avoid missing out.
