10 THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN YOU RUN THE DIFF

Whether you’re a first timer to Cardiff or you’ve ran the race for years, check out this guide on the Top 10 things to look out for when you #RunTheDiff. From our favourite cheering stations and re-fueling stops to the city’s iconic landmarks.

  1. Cardiff’s iconic castle is the backdrop for the race start – so is quite hard to miss! The medieval castle dates back to the late 11th century.

  1. The Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon passes not one, but three stadiums. Near the start line you’ll find the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Arms Park – home to the Cardiff Blues. After mile one you’ll also pass the Cardiff City Stadium!stadium     
  2. The songs of The Tenovus Choir will lift your spirits between mile 4 and 5. A talented brigade of volunteers from the cancer charity will greet you as you run onto the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

 

  1. Cardiff Bay is home to some of the city’s most well-known landmarks such as the Wales Millennium Centre, Welsh Assembly Building and BBC Studios. Doctor Who fans should keep a beady eye out for Dalek’s as they pass the Doctor Who Experience after mile 5!

  1. Maxi Nutrition will be on hand to supply some much needed nutrition at mile 6, giving out gels on Roald Dahl Plass.

  1. The Cardiff Bay Basin is your half way point with entertainment and encouragement from Capital FM.

  1. Runners take in the Roath Park Lake between miles 10 and 12, a 30 acre-lake in one of Cardiff’s most popular Victorian parks.

  1. You’ll find some of our oldest but most enthusiastic spectators by the Roath Park Lake. The residents of the Cartef care home on Lake Road East are always found sat out on the grass outside their home, offering up some much needed support at mile 10.

 

  1.   2. Brecon Carreg – our official water suppliers offer up hydration throughout the course with stations on Penarth Road at mile 3, on Roald Dahl Plass at mile 6, on Ninian Road after mile 9 and on Lake Road West after mile 11.
